About

Hi,

My name is Brooke Neugebauer and I am a daughter, wife, and a mother. I grew up in Upstate New York (well to me anyways) in Binghamton, went to school at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and graduated with a degree in Graphic Design in 1999. (My mom is from outside of Baltimore and I grew up saying that I wanted to live with my Grandmother and go the U. of MD. I did live my Grandmother and kinda went to the U of MD, just not the main campus because 40,000+ students seemed scary to me. I regret my decision some days.) I spent some time living in MD after college, did some traveling in Europe, and then moved back to Binghamton for three years. In 2004 I moved back to Baltimore and within a few months met my now husband, Andy. We got married on 9/3/6 and had our son, Gavin, on 2/14/8. I having been working for a web-to-print company for a little over a year and work out of my kitchen. I work while my son is asleep, but he’s going on a year and his naps are changing, so we’ll see I coup with that.

I have been interested in photography for many years. In highschool I wanted to go into film and made a video year book for a senior english class project, I had a blast. I never went into film because when I was admitted into the Savannah Institute of Art they only did video and at the time I thought that was lame. I was admitted into Towson University in MD but knew someone in the film program at UMBC and quickly changed there. I never took one film class. After some career counseling I decided to take Graphic Design. After graduating I went back to Towson U for a post degree in art education and only lasted a semester. I don’t really like school very much. I went back to career counseling and stuck with Graphic Design. Oh, b/t graduating from UMBC and going to Towson, I worked for a year at UMBC in their Creative Services department. So from there I have been working with photography in some capacity. I actually got to direct a very small and not important photo shoot while working at UMBC. That’s the only one I’ve ever been to. Since UMBC I have worked with Graphic Design and photos on the job ever since. So my knowledge is really Photoshop based and how to get a photo to print correctly or to work on a website. Am I am pro, no.

I also have a connection with photography for capturing a moment. A moment is so special. It’s so fleeting. A photo from when my Grandmother was a young girl was just a moment to her but is so precious to me. I feel so privileged to be able to share that moment with herĀ  and I can only do that through photos…and the new moment that I get to experience while she talks about that photo with me is a moment that I will charish forever. Even if it’s just by memory.

I have a love for photography but am not very good at expressing it. I own a couple type of cameras and do little with them. I have thousands of photos but do little with them. It makes me sad to have an interest and to do nothing with it.

So for 2009 I’ve decided that I would change my way of thinking about some things in my life, and photography was one of them. I need to stop being scared of it and learn to embrace it.

I look forward to the adventure that I will embark on this year, look forward the stories that I will be able to tell along the way, enjoy the new knowledge that I will be able to keep forever, and charish the memories that I will create.

I hope you enjoy the journey with me,

Brooke Neugeubauer
